Junior Master Gardener® Curricula
The Junior Master Gardener program engages children in novel, “hands-on” group and individual learning jmg-booksexperiences that promote a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the environment, and cultivate the mind. JMG encourages youths to be of service to others through service learning and leadership development projects and rewards them with certification.

Junior Master Gardener Teacher/Leader guide         (416 pp.)

Ever suck a bug or make mud pies to evaluate soil texture? The JMG teacher/leader guide provides teachers with the tools to teach the world of gardening with eight chapters of novel, "hands-on" activities for grades 3 - 5. The program includes a study of life skills and career exploration then culminates the JMG experience with service learning projects and recognizes children's efforts with a certification as a Junior Master Gardener.

JMG Level Two combines Teacher/Leader Guide and reproducible pages of independent student "handbook" activities into a single book. This premier program encourages youths to take part in group learning experiences and service projects in their community.

In the first module of the JMG Level Two curricula, middle school and junior-high youths in an investigate of Plant Growth & Development while engaging them in an urgent mission to defeat the evil Dr. Thistle. Students will work as a group to complete lessons in each of the 8 learning concepts then work independently to complete activities found within the mission briefs & mission option pages. By completing these missions, students help foil the twisted plans of Thistle and his menacing gang while reinforcing concepts learned in the group setting.

The second module of the Junior Master Gardener Level 2 curricula is here! This module of this JMG Level Two (grades 6-8) allows students to participate in novel, hands-on activities focusing on Soill and Water concepts. 

Using Operation W.A.T.E.R.: Dr. Thistle Goes Underground, students in grades six through eight can investigate a new mystery while they learn important concepts about soil and water. Topics include: soil texture, aquifers, watersheds, wetlands, soil nutrients, the water cycle, soil improvement, soil structure, and water & soil conservation.
