Fruity and Nutty Recipies

Jammin’ Juice
making jammin juice

If you have a blender, you can make an incredible fruit drink.
Pour one cup of your favorite juice in a blender.  Next pour in one-half cup of water and a few ice cubes.  Add a half of a banana, a few strawberries, one-half a peach, and a scoop of sherbet.  Blend mixture until smooth.

You can try blending any fruit or juice to make your own, special flavor of Jammin’ Juice!

Grape Bake
Grapes are a juicy, healthy snack.  You can make a totally different kind of snack by removing the water from the grapes.  How do you think you can do this?  Bake them! When you bake them at a very low heat, they will dry out.  You’ll be surprised at how small they get once the water is taken out. girl placing raisins in oven

You will need an adult to help with the Grape Bake.

Rinse the grapes off with cold water. Have an adult drop the grapes in boiling water.  After just few seconds, pour the grapes into a strainer to remove water.  Spread the grapes over a cookie sheet.  Make sure they are not touching each other. Have an adult put the grapes in your oven set to LOW or to 160 degrees. Allow grapes to remain in oven for two to six hours. Check them after two hours to see if they have finished drying out.   Allow them to cool.  What is another name for dried grapes?
A Better Butter

Nuts are like meat because they contain a lot of protein. Nuts and meats even belong in the same food group. Can you think of a kind of butter that is made of nuts?   It is a healthy snack that can give your body protein to help build muscles.  You can make your own peanut butter at home.

Put 2 cups of roasted peanuts in a blender. Add 1/4 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of oil and 1 teaspoon of salt.  Have an adult help you turn on the blender and blend until it is smooth.
